Lisa Furukawa has 4 solo albums released on her indie label Yume Records, and has traveled the world performing her original heartfelt folk-chamber pop songs at Japanese and Scottish cultural festivals, conventions, and events. A classical pianist and a folk singer, Lisa has performed arrangements of anime and video game theme song arrangements of composers such as Yoko Kanno and Akira Yamaoka at over 50 anime and sci-fi conventions. She's been known to translate everything from Scottish jigs to National Anthems into Japanese. Her original pop music is hauntingly lyrical, brutally honest, and invokes a shamanistic reverence for the natural world.
Guitarist-songwriter Leon Monroe met Lisa in late December 2010 when his band Doombunny played a reunion show with his former band The Hurt at the Local 506 in Chapel Hill, NC. Phil Mauck, also a former member of The Hurt, played drums at that show too. However, Cloudsang did not form until late December 2011 after Lisa and Leon moved to Seattle, Washington where Phil had already been living.
The concept for Cloudsang developed out of the band’s newly acclimated northwestern exposure to life under the influence of pervasive clouds and rain. "Write as Rain" was written on a hill overlooking Lake Union, just north of downtown Seattle.
Their latest 6 song EP "Write as Rain" was engineered by mind-reader extraordinaire Adam Byrd at Avast in Phinney Ridge over several days, in January and April 2013. It was mastered by RFI in Madison Valley. The cover art was beautifully created by David Mack. Graphic design was put together by cartoonist Dan Helton.
Write as Rain is a Yume Records production-in loving memory of Osho.
